...TEF system implemented. Always though it was a great feature.

Depends on what you exactly want TEF's to do and when they are triggered. According to the original idea, certain helpful actions could also trigger a TEF. And as such, expose you to players from the opposite side. In fact, the article discussed that there were to many helpful actions that could trigger a TEF.

I would advice caution with using TEF and clearly think out what it can do, and what it should do. Clearly define terms and conditions in order to at least limit the amount of griefing that can be done, but preferably eliminating it.

P.S.: If you like the article, read the others as well. Especially the Jedi Saga. :)

TEF Covert and Overt:
Opposing faction NPC's are attackable but not aggresive towards Covert players.

Covert players would gain a TEF from attacking opposing faction NPC's.
Covert players would gain a TEF from attacking Overt or TEF'd players.
Covert players would gain a TEF from healing an Overt or TEF'd player.
Covert players can NOT be attacked by the opposing faction unless TEF'd.

Factional NPC's are attackable AND aggressive to Overt players.
Overt players would gain a TEF from attacking opposing faction NPC's.
Overt players would gain a TEF from attacking Overt or TEF players.
Overt players would gain a TEF from healing an Overt or TEF'd player.
Overt players are attackable by ALL opposing faction players.

Sounds quite simple to me. As far as the "certain helpful actions could also trigger a TEF", well...thats what you get for aiding your faction during a conflict. Stay neutral then, or wait for the TEF to go away after a determined amount of time before applying heals/buffs.

Griefing...? Let them. At least SOMEBODY will be saying SOMETHING in Gen chat.

Might stir some interest in PvP and attract some new players, never know.

@Carista - That was an informative article, thanks for the link.

The problem here is that trading will also place TEF on you. I'm pretty sure that that, especially while the server is small, is undesirable.

Don't get me wrong; TEF sounds good, yet I am advocating caution and determining what should and what should not place TEF.

Two players of the same faction trading each other (be it weapons, food/drink, houses, clothing, while Covert or Overt) SHOULD raise a TEF. You are aiding a faction member during a period of GCW. Now if the reference is to an Imp trading with a Reb (or vice verse), well that sounds down right traitorous to me and both should get what they deserve. 😏 The smart and experienced player would use caution in both cases.

Since population is small, the odds of anyone being around to witness the transaction are slim at best. What happens if the population grows, you may ask? It all comes down to risk vs reward. 😁

It's been over a month since anyone has replied to this thread. Nugax, what do YOU think about TEF on your server?

I think TEF should work exactly how it's written in this thread. If an overt player does anything like trade, etc then that player goes overt that receives.

Also, our server is small as are most SWG servers, so this isn't a big ticket item anyone will care too much about changing. I would stick with whatever swgemu does.

I dont think the Emu has a TEF system implemented. A couple other servers do though...would you consider adding this feature to SWG Res?
